How was 'A Day With... Diana Costa!'
This is one of the days that I will keep forever in my memory box.
As you know, Catarina and I have an intense history between disputes and conquests that, in a way, caused the community, purposely or not, to generate rivalries. That same “attention” made us evolve and grow more as artists and people. However, we made our fantastic trip to Egypt and from there we have built a very good friendship. That's why this invitation became so special to me.
I was open hearted to share my vision of this art, share knowledge and make myself known more. Anxiety and nervousness aside, everything was uncomplicated with the comfort and kindness with which I was received by all. Everything was very well organized, were it not for Catarina's event. (Ahahah)
The workshop had the theme "Smooth Displacement Techniques and Transitions" where we worked from turns, displacements, posture and body stretching, how to occupy space on stage and travel in dance, etc. Some exercises that I presented, I am aware that they require a certain physical availability but I felt that they assimilated the most important and understood how to adapt to each body.
The get-together was a very calm conversation, where we exchanged ideas and shared experiences. Every question I am asked is always a reflection and I end up developing more. Anyone who knows me knows that I love talking about what moves me the most and trying to inspire people with it.
And we ended the day with a Hafla, where everyone could dance and watch them dance. I had the opportunity to see Catarina dancing and this time, up close and in a peaceful environment. Without a doubt, she is a hurricane! A delivery and presence that I'm a big fan!
The students also danced and one can clearly see the personality of each one, but with that presence and essence that they captured from the master.
I needed this day to have more than 24h!! It started to fly! Among countless conversations and sharing, I just wish I had more time to be able to give and receive more from those people.
Catarina has been doing an excellent job with the students. There is a willingness to learn and curiosity to meet other professionals and this is truly surprising. Events like this are in fact an asset for their evolution and an example for the community.
It was a very productive day, with a lot of evolution and a very high emotional charge for me. I ended the day with a full heart, tears in my eyes and a happiness that nobody takes away from me!
Catarina and students, thank you once again for the invitation and for all the affection with which you received me. I want to go back!
